Our Portofino Tumbled Herringbone engineered oak floor is a fabulous large format parquet wooden floor that combines the subtlety of natural oak colour with the pep & zeal of the dynamic herringbone pattern. This artisan-aged oak flooring has undergone a unique tumbling process which effects the face and edges of each plank creating a lovingly time-lived look. This gorgeous oak herringbone floor has been lightly brushed and worked to reveal the natural characteristics of the stunning rustic grade timber which includes various tones, knots and grains. It has then been finished with a hardwax oil to give this lovely herringbone floor a lovely, soft sheen finish and to also add strength & longevity. Boasting lovely natural oak hues ranging from warm ivory through eggshell & cream and onto rich latte, this medium-coloured oak parquet is a stunning floor – full of flair, character & style. This floor is perfect for that adult haven hide-away, be it a romantic snug or a large living room. Portofino Tumbled Herringbone makes a grand statement in libraries, reading rooms and studies where a touch of grandeur goes a long way. Due to the modernity of the board size, this engineered herringbone floor can certainly be used in contemporary schemes or to introduce a progressive touch into older refurbishments.

| Grade | RUSTIC GRADE: Rustic grade wood has the largest range of colour variation, sap content and allows almost a limitless size and number of knots. There will be checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. Rustic grade oak produces a stunning, traditional vintage looking floor. |
| Installation Points | Engineered Herringbone Oak Flooring cannot be floated over an underlay. The planks must be solidly attached to the sub-floor using an appropriate adhesive. |
| Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
| Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
| Cleaning | The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Oiled Wood Floor is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning oiled wood floors in the home. Simply spray and wipe the floor clean. It cleans and nourishes your oiled wood floor while providing extra protection. |
