Does your project dictate a light to medium oak hardwood floor with a natural finish for a timeless look? If so then our fabulous Hunston Handworked #23 is surely the antiqued wood flooring for you. This charming natural grade oak has been hand-antiqued, hand-shaved, hand-chiselled and every edge hand-distressed to create a superb aged look oak that paradoxically suits contemporary installations just as well as more traditional interiors. Each plank is finished with a grey-white wax oil that heightens the woods natural grain, knots and other inherent characteristics, producing a wonderfully coloured floor.
This is a wonderful pale board producing a natural unfinished look which is in such high demand. Handworked to accent all the oaks distinctive traits & personality, this oak gives a timeworn finish and colour suiting both older properties and more contemporary environments. Hunston Handworked #23 engineered oak flooring is natural grade containing knots and splits which give this oak floor a wonderful depth of character and warmth. The oak has been finished with a 'clear' grey-white wax oil which cleverly gives the raw colour of the oak a very subtle cool tone giving your floor that much desired natural colour and appearance. Whether you are fitting out a country cottage or a town house, Hunston Handworked #23 oiled oak flooring will look simply stunning.
Our Hunston Handworked range offers different colour options, all naturally produced through a combination of different smoking times and finishing oil. #23 is light smoked and finished with a grey-white wax oil which gently accents the natural grain flow patterns in this superb oak floor.
Design Tip: With paler smoked oak floors avoid furniture made from dark woods like mahogany or cherry. Instead, opt for lighter woods like pine or birch. This will help maintain the bright and airy feel of your space.

| Grade | NATURAL GRADE: Natural Grade wood (also known as Character Grade) flooring will include both heartwood and sapwood. It is an affordable and attractive option that is full of character. Natural grade allows a wider range of colour variation, knots are larger and there will be incidents of checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. |
| Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
| Floating | Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product. |
| Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
| Cleaning | The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Oiled Wood Floor is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning oiled wood floors in the home. Simply spray and wipe the floor clean. It cleans and nourishes your oiled wood floor while providing extra protection. |
